LOOK BOTH WAYS BEFORE CROSSING NEXT TIME – A tourist train carrying about 25 passengers collided into an SUV in Santa Fe Sunday. Fortunately the driver of the SUV, 65-year-old Santa Fe resident Elaine Siegel, and the tourists were
unharmed. The train was traveling nearly 10 miles per hour when the caboose of the train slammed into Siegel’s Land Rover, pushing the car 30 feet up the tracks. The train stopped about 120 feet from the intersection. Siegel says the sun prevented her from
seeing the flashing signal lights at the intersection. What’s her excuse for the ringing bells? Regardless, Siegel will be charged with failing to yield to the train.
