“BARACK IS TOO BUSY” – This from German magazine Der Spiegel when writing about President Obama declining an invitation from Chancellor Angela Merkel to attend the anniversary celebration marking the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Obama has drawn criticism for sending Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to the celebration that drew thousands, not to mention dignitaries from all over the world – even former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev attended. Many saw the event as the perfect opportunity
for Obama to honor a victory shared by Americans and Europeans alike, especially those who felt the president stuck it to the U.S. with his overseas trips apologizing for America’s past behavior. The White House said Obama simply didn’t have time to go, citing a scheduling conflict.
